How can I use a Wikispace as an online meeting place for collaboration, problem-solving, and developing higher-order thinking skills?
Session Objectives:
Develop a definition for a Wiki
Observe and evaluate various examples of Wikis (used within different subject content areas)
Practice computer skills in editing a Wiki (copying and pasting images and text, typing, saving)
Participate in an online discussion (submit an initial post and respond to a colleague)
Create a class WikiSpace for use in the upcoming school year
Evaluate the session's components (positives, areas of improvement, etc.)
Session Components:
Teacher Tube Video- Wikis in Plain English (approximately 4 minutes)
In partners or small groups, add the following components to the practice page (link also found on the right of the screen)
Member names (Rename your group if you wish!)

Add a discussion topic: from the same practice page, click on the "Discussion Tab" at the top of the page and add a new post by giving it a subject, message, and clicking "Post".
Respond to at least one discussion topic by selecting your choice
Challenge: Add an image! (Remember to cite your source!)
Explore a wikispace (approximately 20-30 minutes)
Examples of various wikis used in the classroom
Create a WikiSpace (approximately 1.5 hours)
Create a class wikispace with the intention of using in the upcoming new year!
Add a Discussion Thread to your Wikispace
